Hello and welcome to week 2 of Fairy Summer School. If you missed part 1, you can catch up here.
Fairy Willow hopes you are ready to take on a super important role. All fairies need to know how to make some magical potions. Fairies use these for all kinds of important tasks, like helping the garden grow, cleaning and making things look pretty, as well as medicine for our little animal friends.
So grab an adult and some magical ingredients and you can start to create your own Magical Fizzy Fairy Potions. Here is a list of what you will need:
DIY Magic Fizzy Fairy Potions
Bicarbonate of Soda
Vinegar (we used white distilled)
Washing up liquid
Glitter (Fairy Dust)
A selection of small glass jars
A magic wand or stick – we made a special magic wand from one of the sticks in our Fairy Garden kits
A tray or large dish which can contain the overflow of magic!
How to Make your DIY Magic Fizzy Fairy Potions
First, you need to fill the jar halfway with vinegar, then stir in a spoonful of your chosen colour.
Next, add a food squeeze of washing up liquid and lots of fairy dust. Then add in a spoonful of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) and start to stir with the magic wand.
The potion will bubble and froth, fizzing out over the jar and making a gorgeous, sparkly mixture!
Well done … you have now passed your Fairy Potions training!
Why not sprinkle your potion with some dried rose petals, we added some from our Woodland Fairy Garden Kit.
What Magic Potion will you create?
Fairy Willow Tips for the Grown Ups!
Set up everything your little fairy needs to make their Fizzy Fairy Potion, and have them collect some special ingredients from the garden like twigs, berries or dandelions.
If you have a creative writing fan as your little fairy in training, why not have them make up their own magic spell to say as they swirl their potion in the bottles.
You could add some labels to your glass jars and get your little fairy to make up a name for their potion or decide what magical powers they will bestow. Is is a Potion for Friendship, or maybe a Get Well Soon Medicine Potion. You could make this activity even more magical and authentic with some little jars and these gorgeous Fairy Apothecary Labels from Chocolate Rabbit. They are super easy to make and print at home.
So now you completed Part 2 of your Fairy Summer School, be sure to come back next week for Part 3
Fairy Willow would love to see you completing your Magic Fizzy Fairy Potions, so be sure to share them with us, either via email or using #toadstoolsandtippytoessummer
